Measuring Peterbilt Tank Steps

There are 19 available sizes (lengths) of Peterbilt fuel tank steps. Peterbilt tank steps are actually measured in millimeters, and range from 450mm to 1300mm long, in 50mm increments. You must choose from those sizes; we do not offer custom length steps. Because every truck has different options and configurations, we cannot determine the step size you need based on year, model, etc. You will need to measure your truck.

If your truck already has fuel tank steps, simply measure the length of the existing step. Be sure to measure the step only, from inside the two tank step brackets. Also measure the diameter of your fuel tank to determine what size brackets you need.

If your truck does not have fuel tank steps, measure the distance between the tank hangers, as shown in the drawing below. The tank steps and brackets can be mounted on the outside of the hangers or on the inside, so you have two choices of length.

HEAVY DUTY STEPS

All of our tank steps are available in a heavy duty version (shown in the photo above). Any steps over 1050mm (41-3/8") are ONLY available in the heavy duty version, and not the standard version. We do recommend heavy duty steps with all kits - the reinforcement plates significantly increase the strength and durability.
